I made it this far!

Hey yall. Sorry I've been gone for a while, but I just finished my fall semester at PNCA. Phew, school is TOUGH! Don't get me wrong though, I had a blast! Made some cool stuff and met some awesome people.  Here's a little taste of what I've been up to. It was my final project for my Beginning Animated Arts class.

I'll try to post more soon, but for now I need a shower, a sandwich and some SLEEEEEP!

A quick question...

So, I've got a super quick and super vague question that I wanna throw out there. Based on these three options...

Oranges, Brothers or Doods?

What would you suggest?

Back to the Schoolture

"Are you telling me that this SUCKER... is nuclear?!?" - MJF, 1985

As of today, I'm back at PNCA to kick some butt. It feels wonderful and my body if filled with excitement. This is going to be a good year. I can feel it.

Vacation time fun trip!

So, first off, thanks SO FREAKING MUCH to everyone who's downloaded and tried out the Dooder demo. I've gotten some really awesome feedback from a lot of really cool people. I love hearing what people think, so keep those comments/suggestions/glitch reports coming!

Secondly, I'm leaving tomorrow on vacation and won't be back for about two weeks. When I get back, I'm moving into my new house, so I'm pretty busy right up until school starts. But rest assured, I'm still hard at work on Dooder, as well as some other interesting things on the back burner.

Anyway, I'm off to distant lands. Bye bye.

BTW::: Go see Scott Pilgrim vs. the World on August 13th. I don't care if you hate Michael Cera. He hates you too. Just go see it.

It's imported IMPORTANT.

DOODER DEMO IS OUT!

Hello friends.

So guess what! I just finished the first demo for the game I'm making called DOODER! I made a new trailer (seen above) and a little web page to celebrate the release of the demo. You can find the link to download it on the new DOODER HOME PAGE, or just click the link below:::

Sadly, it only runs on a PC, but if you play it, let me know what you think. Any and all pointers, advice or glitch reports are more than welcome.

GAME ON!

Death rattle

UUGGHHH!

I've been using the same Dell computer since about 2002/2003, and it's been chugging like a tranquilized rhinoceros for a while now, but it's been usable. Yesterday however, I spent literally all day just trying to boot it up. I had all but lost hope, and then it miraculously decided to turn on again today. I'm pretty apprehensive about using it though. I think I just need to back all my shit up, and kick it to the curb.

Anyway, just saying, I might be pretty sparse on the internet for a while, until I get a new setup. I don't want to push this tired horse farther than it can handle. It's kind of ridiculous that I'm still using such an old, unstable machine, seeing as how about 80% of the work that I do is digital and uses pretty heavy programs. Using After Effects on this thing is like trying to play Crysis on an Atari 2600.

Just though I'd let you know. Bye for now.

... and the livin' is EASY, right?

Oh geeze, life's been intense. This is just a little pulse checker of a post, announcing that I'm still alive. To sum it up ::: school's out, but I'm still stressed. If you want to see what I learned this year, check out my 3 terms worth of notebooks HERE.

Life is good but hectic (hence the image above). Got a few different projects lined up for the summer though, and I'm super excited. More on that later. Until then however, enjoy Adventure Time :::

Hard at work!

Just so you all know, Dooder (the VIDEOGAME I'm working on) is still in early production, but I've been making some serious headway! Especially in the past few weeks, I've made some breakthrough developments, whatever that means...

I really want to tell you all about it, but my more sensible side is telling me to shut my mouth for now. My excitement has been known to get me into trouble from time to time. However, more announcements are soon to follow. And by "soon", I mean sometime before 2048. Keep checking back for more updates, or follow my tweeter (I know, right!?).

Keep faith.

Seven Panel Sunday!!!

So, I really want to get back into drawing comics. I've been so wrapped up in animation and video games lately that I've been neglecting my panelwork. So to jump back into the game I'm going to start a little experiment where I'll be starting a new strip every Monday, drawing (at least) one panel of it each day of the week. I'm using the exact same panel layout every week, and I'm going to try to not think about the plot of the strip as a whole before hand, but rather let each panel work off of the previous, growing organically. Kind of like comic improv? I dunno....

By the end of the week, on Sunday, I'll be posting the finished strip on here for you all to view. I call it...

SEVEN PANEL SUNDAY!!!

Really, it's just kind of a fun little experiment to get me back in the swing of putting panels on paper, as well as an exercise in diligence. Check out the first strip by clicking the image above.

Er... How about next Sunday then?

So last Sunday I was gonna post the beginnings of a new little project I'm starting, but for multiple reasons, it wasn't ready in time. One of those reasons is school. The other reason has to do with this:

But more on that later. I'm gonna try to post more about the new project on Sunday, so check back then. If you trust me, that is.

Fan art for Mr. Blas

Terry Blas just finished his first issue of Briar Hollow, and to celebrate, I did a little piece of fanart of the three main characters! Head over to the blog to check out the full illustration.

And read Briar Hollow. You're mom told me she'd ground you if you don't.

And yes, I am indeed a jerk. ;D

Keep your composure...

So, I'm trying to step it up a notch with compositing in After Effects. I'm kind of just stumbling my way around figuring out how its done right now, so if you've got any advice/experience/knowledge of good online tutorials or resources, please, PLEASE let me know. This isn't for nuthin', btw. Just using Dooder as my guinea pig.

Hey, this is neat.

Way to go Portland. Proud to be a part of you.

Like waking from a dream...

Terry Blas just uploaded the first 6 pages of his new comic Briar Hollow to his blog, so go check it out! I must say, it's looking pretty slick!

New website design

Hooray for change! If you ask me, it's a bit sexier now. Everything's still in the same place though, so don't you worry about it.

Just enjoy the creamsicle.

Aunt Hattie's Cabin

Hello friends. I just finished editing a short video that I recorded last summer at my lovely girlfriend's aunt's river cabin. It's mainly just another compilation of test shots put to music, but I feel like it turned out pretty swell. I got to test out my new 35mm adapter, and although I'm obviously still trying to get the hang of it, I feel like it sets the mood for how awesome and beautiful that weekend was. Check it out if you've got a minute or two.

A word of caution though, if you're prone to motion sickness, you may want to skip this one. With the adapter I was using, you have to film everything upside down, so not only is the footage mostly shaky hand-held, but I couldn't really see what I was doing most of the time. You have been warned!

Bigtime needs Bearfights

My friend Bigtime is putting an anthology together under his new small press moniker of Banner Year Press. The theme?

And guess what? He wants YOU to be a part of it! All you have to do is create an image of some kind of bear fighting something, and submit it to him by MARCH 10. If he gets too many submissions, it may become a juried submission, but it's worth going for it.

There's some technical stuff you should know, so check out the official page for more info and to download the template and artist agreement. GO NOW! FIGHT!

Let's go, Briar Hollow!

So I just had coffee with my buddy Terry Blas and he was showing me some pages from his forth-coming comic series, Briar Hollow. I'm gonna tell you right now, it looks maximum bad-ass. He'll be posting the first couple pages on his blog in the next few days, so now's the perfect time to head over there and follow him from the beginning. If you like comics, romance, videogames, nerdety, and/or 20-somethings, you'll be a fan for sure. It's gonna be rad.

He shall prevail.

Oh Dang! So check it out!

Alright. I did it. I figured this shit out! Thanks to Feed Informer, my BLOG is now updating my WEBSITE's news directly! I know this probably isn't that big of a deal, but I've never really taken the time to understand this whole "feed" thing, and now that I've figured this out, I feel like a real 21st century man. You can also leave comments at the bottom of the posts now too! And I'll read them! Isn't the internet wonderful?

The only downside to this is that all of my old posts are gone. I still have the files on my computer, but I'd rather not take the time to re-upload all of the text.

On the bright side, that means I'll be updating much, much more often now. Now that I don't have to practically re-write my site every time I want to post something, life will be truly easier. So go follow me on my BLOG if you want. I spent some time designing it today, and I rather like how it turned out.

Hello blogger.

So I've had this blog registered for a long time now. I was gonna use it for something (I forget what), but never did. I guess I'll use it now.

I'd really like to figure out how to sync this blog up to my website news, so that I can just post updates here, and it updates my website website. If anyone knows how to do that, or even what the hell I'm talking about, let me know.

This whole i'nner net things sure is cunfusin.
